The professional fields are correspondingly diverse. Creative Technologists can work in design and digital agencies, development departments, research institutions, museums, cultural organisations, start-ups, or technology companies. Their work may range from interface and experience design to interactive installations, spatial media, physical computing, Creative AI, smart environments, wearables, or new digital products. The professional fields are correspondingly diverse.  +What such a role could look like in the future is explored in a short essay about a day in the life of a //Creative Technologist// in 2035, available [[creative_technologies:a-day-in-the-life-of-kim|here]].

Within the Creative Technologies degree programme at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, this way of working is developed step by step. The programme starts with foundations in design, digital media, media technology, and programming. Later, topics such as physical computing, electronics, interface design, mathematics, artificial intelligence, web development, and computer graphics are added. In the project modules, these areas come together again and are applied in students’ own concepts, experiments, prototypes, and systems. Within the Creative Technologies degree programme at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, this way of working is developed step by step.  Creative Technologies is therefore less a clearly defined discipline than a way of working: asking questions, understanding contexts, developing ideas, exploring technologies, building things, testing them, and improving them. Design and technology are not separate worlds. Their connection is what defines Creative Technologies. Creative Technologies is therefore less a clearly defined discipline than a way of working: asking questions, understanding contexts, developing ideas, exploring technologies, building things, testing them, and improving them.
