Visiting FH Münster and the the Münsterland region
FH Münster University of Applied Sciences, founded in 1971 from a merger of various engineering and vocational schools, stands as one of Germany's largest and most successful applied sciences institutions. Located at multiple sites across the Münsterland region (marked in the map below), and its main campuses in the cities of Münster and Steinfurt – about 35km North-West of Münster, the university serves around 14.500 students across 14 departments and several research institutions. It has established a strong reputation for quality in education and research, supported by highest rates of third-party funding among German universities of applied sciences. How to visit by plane?
The closest airport with a distance of 24km is airport Münster/Osnabrück (FMO) with direct flights available from Berlin, Dresden, Eindhoven, Frankfurt, Geneva, Leipzig/Halle, London, Munich, Nice, Paris, Stuttgart, Venice, and Zurich. Nearby airports also include Dortmund Airport (DTM) at about 75 km distance, Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) at 105 km, and Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) at 150 km.
Flying to FMO, continue taking the shuttle bus to Münster Central Station (Hauptbahnhof, Hbf). From there, take the regional train towards Gronau/Enschede. Exit at Steinfurt-Burgsteinfurt station. Trains depart 9 minutes past every full hour. From the train station it is a 15 minutes walk, or a 3min taxi ride to Stegerwaldstraße 39.
Alternatively, with a rental car: Take the Autobahn A1 towards Münster. Exit at Münster-Nord (exit No. 77) and follow the B54 towards Steinfurt until the Steinfurt-Burgsteinfurt exit. Continue on the L 510 towards Burgsteinfurt. In Burgsteinfurt, follow the L510 towards Leer/Schöppingen. From here, the route to the university is well signposted. At the 5th traffic light, turn right onto Leerer Straße. After approximately 1 kilometer, turn right onto Stegerwaldstraße. The university center is about 300 meters ahead on the left side.
How to visit by train?
